"The winds of entitlement and blame continue to blow, but one by one we can choose to stand on an idea that still works and is the right thing to do: Personal Accountability. It's never too late to embrace this life-changing principle." - John Miller, author of “QBQ!”
Stop the Blame Game and Start Taking Charge:
We've all heard it: colleagues blaming each other, clients complaining about service, and leaders pointing fingers. This negativity can be contagious, pulling us into a cycle of blame, complaint, and procrastination. We might even blame external factors like the economy for our struggles. However, these behaviors only hinder progress.
As the book "QBQ" highlights, a lack of personal accountability fuels an epidemic of negativity. Achieving goals, thriving in competition, and nurturing development relies heavily on taking ownership of our actions and choices.
I experienced this firsthand during a high-level search when the parameters shifted unexpectedly. I initially questioned the change and worried about the candidates' reactions. But then, I caught myself complaining and realized I was slipping into negativity.
Instead, I shifted my focus. Instead of "why," I started asking "how": How can I make this search a success? How can I adapt to ensure a positive outcome? How can I turn this into an opportunity?
By asking empowering questions, I formulated a plan that included open communication with the candidates. They embraced the changes and the search concluded successfully.
It's easy to fall into negativity, but by focusing on solutions and taking action, we take the first step towards personal accountability. As John Miller says, "It's never too late to accept responsibility." Imagine a world where everyone embraces this principle!
How can I help you start your journey towards personal accountability?
